This workshop is an introduction to using anatomy as a tool to add detail and visual interest to your figure drawing. Learn to recognize the basic surface anatomical landmarks of the body. Lectures and demonstrations combined with your own active guided drawing from a live model help you meet your goal of improving form through a better understanding of surface skeletal and muscle shapes and placements.
Sarah Riley, an internationally exhibited artist, creates artwork drawn from myth, literature and personal history. At Virginia Commonwealth University she studied with Theresa Pollak, a student of Hans Hofmann.
She has taught figure drawing, printmaking and painting at colleges and universities for over 25 years. Her recent book on printmaking, Practical Mixed-Media Printmaking was published by A&C Black, London. Recent exhibitions include mini-solo exhibitions at Viridian Artists, NYC in 2012 and 2014. On Cape Cod she has exhibited work at Cove Gallery in Wellfleet, and in juried exhibitions at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and the Schoolhouse Gallery, Provincetown. Her work was included in Four Great Printmakers, an exhibition in August 2013 at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill.
